Explanation

Chi square test scores that are more extreme than the critical value are statistically significant (reject H0). Otherwise, keep the H0 (not significant).

For chi square goodness of fit (columns only), the degrees of freedom are columns (groups) - 1. The test of independence degrees of freedom are (rows - 1) * (columns - 1).
