PSPP is a free, open-source software application for basic statistical analyses. It is designed to function like SPSS (Statistics Package for the Social Sciences), a widely used software application for scientists and researchers who conduct statistical analyses.
Description from the official PSPP web site: "PSPP is a stable and reliable application. It can perform descriptive statistics, T-tests, anova, linear and logistic regression, measures of association, cluster analysis, reliability and factor analysis, non-parametric tests and more. Its backend is designed to perform its analyses as fast as possible, regardless of the size of the input data. You can use PSPP with its graphical interface or the more traditional syntax commands."
This software is free in multiple ways. It can be downloaded at no cost, which open-source software advocates describe as being like "free beer." PSPP is also free as in freedom. The license allows installation on any compatible computer, including Windows, Macs, and Linux.
The official PSPP pages have more details about the purpose of the software and a quick tour that includes some screenshots.
